“Turquoise Sea III” is inspired by the South Devon Coastline. It reminds me of holidays swimming and snorkelling in the Mediterranean sea and also trips to Cornwall. The turquoise colour of the sea off St.Ives is a particular favourite of mine.
This is one in a new series of paintings examining the play of light. Here sunlight is hitting the shallow water creating a play light. Showing blues, turquoise, green and indigo ripples. I aim to make the viewer to feel a certain amount of escapism when looking this painting and try to give an immersive experience.
As a result of being based in Teignmouth I live close to the Haldon Forest, the sea and Dartmoor. The South West Coast and the wild untamed landscape of the moor has influenced my recent work because of its proximity. I often return to the work of Kurt Jackson and Peter Doig for inspiration and a sense of place.
Available as a limited edition giclee print. There is free postage in the U.K. Please contact me for postage elsewhere.
